I've spent 25 years—a quarter-century—guiding both locals and travelers through every corner of our country. As a professor of geography and history, I don't see every hill or village as just a "stop"; to me, they are living stories shaped by nature and time.

Do you know what has always saddened me most? Meeting people abroad who proudly tell me they've been to Slovenia, but only stayed for a day or two—claiming that, besides Bled and the caves, there "isn't much else to see." Those words sting. I know exactly how much depth, beauty, and character is hidden just a few miles off the main roads.

The "Racing Tourism" Trap: Highways and Empty Stomachs

The worst thing you can do is book Postojna Cave and Lake Bled on the same day. Especially in the summer, you'll spend the bulk of your time trapped in a hot car on the motorway instead of actually being in nature. In the rush to get from Point A to Point B, you usually lose the chance for a decent warm meal. Instead of an authentic local feast, you end up with a dry sandwich at a gas station because there's always a rush to get somewhere.

Someone once wisely said that we can even slow down the aging process if we just learn to slow down our pace. In modern travel, we seem to do the opposite—we rush so much that we miss the moments meant to recharge us. My goal is to replace that dry gas station sandwich with a moment where time actually stands still.

My Vision: One Region, One Real Story

I want you to truly stop and get to know the soul of a single region. Slovenia may be small, but its diversity offers a world-class journey without ever needing to cross a border. Every turn reveals a different character that will charm you:

• Gorenjska (Alpine): Beneath the peaks, you'll meet the prudent Gorenjec. In this crisp climate, you'll taste their resilience in authentic Kranjska klobasa and buckwheat žganci.
• Dolenjska (Continental): Among the rolling hills, a Dolenjec will welcome you like family. Over a glass of Cviček and warm local štruklji, you'll feel right at home.
• Štajerska (Sub-Pannonian): Under the warm sun, the joyous Štajerc will open his heart through song. Their zest for life is served as rich pumpkin seed oil and a hearty sour soup.
• Primorska (Mediterranean): Where the sea breeze hits the Karst, you'll find a passionate soul, world-class olive oil, and salt-cured Pršut.

This incredible diversity is what inspired me to create Vitamia. My tours are designed with intent: some are refreshed classics, others are completely new. I know many of you have already "seen" Slovenia and are looking for something deeper.

But Vitamia is also about people. The partners I work with are carefully selected to support locals so they can keep their traditions alive.
