Bled Castle — The Seat of the Bishops of Brixen
Your journey begins at Bled Castle, the oldest in Slovenia, perched atop a 130-meter vertical cliff. Once the seat of the Bishops of Brixen, it offers the most magnificent view of the lake and serves as a perfect historical introduction to the region.
Within the castle walls, we explore the collection of the National Museum of Slovenia, which traces thousands of years of settlement — from archaeological finds to the aristocratic splendor of centuries past. The visit is complemented by a stop at the Castle Printing Works, where you have the opportunity to hand-print your own commemorative document on a replica Gutenberg press.
Bled Island — By Traditional Pletna
From the castle heights, we descend to the shore to board a traditional pletna, a wooden boat handcrafted by local artisans. Our destination is Bled Island, a site of profound symbolic importance where Alpine nature meets layers of spirituality spanning over a millennium.
Ascending the 99 stone steps reveals the island's transformation from an ancient shrine into a Baroque church. We will explore the significance of this spiritual oasis for the European elite and conclude the experience at the 16th-century Renaissance "wish bell".
Refined Lakeside Lunch
Before leaving Bled, we pause at a historic hotel that still radiates the soul of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy and the golden age of Alpine tourism. In their restaurant, indulge in a refined 3-course lunch where chefs blend traditional recipes with modern techniques, all set against one of the most iconic views of the lake.
Lake Bohinj — Into Triglav National Park
The journey continues deeper into Triglav National Park, an oasis of raw glacial beauty and deep tranquility. On the eastern shore of Lake Bohinj, we visit the Church of St. John the Baptist. With its layers of Romanesque, Gothic, and Baroque art, the church reveals how faith and local customs shaped life in this secluded valley.

Option 1: Alpine Vistas — Mt. Vogel
A cable car ascent to the summit of Mt. Vogel (1535 m) offers a majestic bird's-eye perspective of the Bohinj basin and a direct view of Mt. Triglav. Perfect for a moment of silence above the clouds. Extend your escape with an overnight at Hotel Bohinj — sustainable architecture in perfect symbiosis with nature.

Option 2: Alpine Heritage — The Dairying Museum
Visit the Alpine Dairying Museum in Stara Fužina, housed in a former village dairy. An authentic look into the millennial tradition of pastoralism, cheesemaking, and the unique mountain lifestyle that defines Bohinj.
