Panoramic Introduction
We begin with a stop at a curated viewpoint for the finest panoramic vista. The harmonious composition of red-tiled roofs, ancient castle walls, and the sweeping Drava River reveals itself in all its grandeur.
Ptuj Castle & UNESCO Kurent Heritage
We ascend to Ptuj Castle, a mighty fortress that served for centuries as a strategic outpost for the Archbishopric of Salzburg. Today, it houses rich museum collections reflecting feudal lifestyle and culture. A highlight is the exhibition dedicated to the Kurents — mystical figures whose door-to-door rounds are protected as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The Old Town & Mithraeum
Descending from the castle, we explore the Orpheus Monument (a massive 2nd-century Roman tombstone), the Town Hall, and the Parish Church of St. George. We visit the Mithraeum — an ancient sanctuary dedicated to the god Mithras, witness to the importance of Roman Poetovio.
The Oldest Wine Cellar in Slovenia
We step into a traditional wine cellar. Deep within cool underground tunnels, premium Styrian wines age to perfection. Through a tasting of selected local varieties, you experience the thousand-year-old culture of winemaking.

Ptujska Gora: Basilica of the Virgin of Mercy
A short drive to Ptujska Gora to visit what is widely considered the most beautiful Gothic monument in Slovenia. Its centerpiece is the exquisite relief of the "Virgin with a Cloak," featuring 82 figures gathered under her protection.
Žiče Charterhouse (Return via)
On the return to Ljubljana, we detour into the secluded Valley of St. John the Baptist to discover the ruins of the Žiče Charterhouse. Established in the 12th century for the Carthusian "White Monks," this former monastery is a landmark of early monastic architecture in Central Europe.
